The 360 Mount - Everything you need to know about the 360 mount for pike fishing

Pike fishing is an exciting adventure for many anglers. One of the most effective rigs for targeting this predator is the 360° rig.. In this article, we'll take a closer look at this popular fishing rig, which combines a soft lure with a lead head and a triple. Find out more how to make this 360° montage and why it is so effective for pike fishing.

What is 360° editing?

The 360° editing is a rig well known to pike anglers. It consists of Equip a soft lure with a lead head and a free-moving triple.. This rig gets its name from the fact that the triple is free to rotate 360 degrees thanks to a barrel swivel. This rotation allows the triple to follow the trajectory of the pike when it attacks the lure, reducing the risk of the lure pressing on the hook and unhooking.

The advantages of 360 mounting for pike

A 360 rig has many advantages when it comes to pike fishing. Here are the main features.

  1. Reducing stalls : When a pike attacks a lure, it can make sudden movements that make it difficult to keep the triple in place. Thanks to the 360 degree rotation, the triple follows the movement of the fish. This considerably reduces the risk of the lure stalling.
  2. Adaptability : Another advantage of the 360 rig is its adaptability. You can choose where to position the treble depending on the hook size of your lead head. If you're fishing with a longer lead head, you can offset the treble to better target rear attacks, while shorter lead heads allow you to position the treble closer to the head of the lure for frontal attacks.
  3. Versatility : The 360 rig can be used in a variety of fishing situations. So whether you're trolling or cranking between two waters, the 360 rig is a versatile option that can be adapted to different types of soft lure. We're talking specifically about pike, but we could also have been referring to pike-perch, for example.

How do you create a 360 mounting for pike fishing?

To carry out this assembly, you will need the following items:

  • An unmounted soft lure.
  • A lead head adapted to the size of the lure.
  • A triple of the right size for the lure.
  • A size 4 barrel swivel.
  • Two reinforced broken rings size 3 or larger.
  • A pair of pliers with broken rings.
  • A loach needle

Here are the steps for creating a 360° montage:

  1. Insert the lead head into the centre of the soft lure, making sure that the hook comes out in the middle of the back of the lure.
  2. Next, use a loach needle to create a hole near the exit of the hook and pass the broken ring through this hole.
  3. Fix the broken ring firmly to hold the lead head in place.
  4. Attach the barrel swivel to one of the broken rings.
  5. Attach the triple to the barrel swivel using the remaining broken ring.

Finally, make sure the triple is positioned as close as possible to the head of the lure to maximise your chances of success.

Tom Couchoud from the Ultimate team explains the 360 pike assembly on video:

In conclusion, the 360 rig is a simple and effective rig that offers a better chance of catching the pike of your dreams. Don't hesitate to equip yourself with the necessary elements and use this rig to improve your fishing performance.

Happy fishing!
