Information about your guide
Grégory
Fishing guide specialising in bluefin tuna fishing with flies and lures. Having fished for bluefin tuna with lures over several seasons, fly fishing has emerged as the ultimate challenge for this fish. Fly fishing requires even more delicacy and precision than lure fishing. The detailed programme
Fishing departure at 9.00 am
Return around 5.00 pm depending on fishing conditions
The aim of the BFT Guiding team is to get you within the best possible fishing distance of the hunts! That's why we only guide our anglers on the tuna of the Basque coast.
We'll give you all the attention you need to maximise your chances of catching the Atlantic tuna.
Equipment
We've selected a number of Hardy rigs that have proven their durability, including the Hardy Zephrus SWS in 12-gauge silk, accompanied by FORTUNA XDS 12000 reels with drags of up to 14kg. The Zephrus 4-strand reels can handle fish weighing up to 30kg. But we'll have exclusive access to these single-piece rods, capable of tackling fish weighing up to 50-60kg while retaining a real fly-fishing feel.
Le Bateau
The BFT-Guiding team will welcome you on a boat designed entirely for sport fishing. You'll be able to sail and stalk bluefin tuna aboard an Everglades 243cc. Its special design, with a platform at the bow and a platform at the stern, will allow two fly fishermen to cast at the same time in good sea conditions. The boat is powered by a 275hp Mercury Verado engine, which delivers the exceptional performance and navigation needed for deep-sea fishing. Equipped with state-of-the-art electronics: on-board computer, double combined plotter-sounder, vhf radio, etc... It is also fitted with the safety equipment of the 240 division (deep-sea navigation). The boat has a life raft and life jackets with a buoyancy >150N will be made available to each angler.
Enjoy a day's tuna fishing in optimum comfort on an exceptional American open boat.
Further information
Outings can take place from mid-June to mid-October. But the most interesting fishing period is between mid-August and mid-October.
The rest of the calendar will be opened at the last minute depending on the presence of tuna in the fishing area.
Bluefin tuna is subject to strict No Kill periods only.
As fly fishing is very specific, with a different approach to hunting and use of the boat's space, we will not be offering mixed groups of lure anglers and fly fishermen. You can set up mixed groups with friends if you wish. Fly fishing services are only offered when the boat is privatised.
