Known and recognized across the Atlantic, Borboleta lures are now landing in France, to the delight of exo fishing enthusiasts and lures in general. For those who do not yet know Borboleta, we wanted to devote an article to this brand of lures straight from Brazil.
History of Borboleta lures: Made in Brazil lures
Borboleta lures are Brazilian lures, made in the South East of the country, at sea and in the mountains. Founded in 1980 by Zezito Abdalla, Borboleta is today a manufacturer of essential lures for peacock bass fishing but also large predatory freshwater and marine fish.
Originally developed by hand, Borboleta lures are now computer-designed, tested, retouched and tested over and over again to obtain a perfect result in terms of swimming and imitation.
Many models of Borboleta lures, however, continue to be made in wood and by hand for tuna or GT trevally.
We will introduce you to some of the iconic borboleta lures.
Propeller lure Borboleta Woodstock
Le Borboleta Woodstock pèse 35gr et mesure 13cm. C’est un leurre flottant, équipé d’une hélice de type buzzbait, qui émet une sonorité grave et particulière lorsque vous effectuez des tirées sèches pour l’animer. Comme son nom l’indique, sa conception est en bois, ce qui va lui donner une flottabilité parfaite et ce, tout le long de sa vie.

Propeller lure Borboleta Jaraqui
Le Borboleta Jaraqui est un leurre de 44gr pour 14cm en plastique dense. Comme son confrère Woodstock, c’est un leurre à hélices, à la différence qu’il en possède 2 à l’arrière de la queue.
The sound that emerges is therefore very different, much more aggressive than on the woodstock. It is also more imposing by its width, and its treble hooks are 4/0.
Floating stickbait Borboleta Zarari
Le Borboleta Zarari est un leurre de surface de 25gr pour 11cm. Il s’anime en walking the dog (la promenade du chien). Très solide grâce à son armature traversante, il résistera à tous les carnassiers du globe sans le moindre souci. Il se lance aussi très loin grâce à sa forme fuselée. De très gros peacock bass ont été capturés avec ce stickbait hors du commun.
Floating stickbait Borboleta Little Bob
Le Borboleta Little Bob est adapté aussi bien en mer qu’en eau douce. Il s’anime très facilement lui aussi en walking the dog. Mais grâce à sa bouche concave, le son d’un popper vient se rajouter à son attractivité. Une sorte de 2 en 1 pour cet hybride stickbait/popper. Son centre de gravité a été placé à l’arrière afin de le catapulter le plus loin possible. C’est aussi un élément qui va vous donner un meilleur ferrage.
Sinking stickbait Borboleta Tunao
Les stickbaits coulants sont souvent sous-utilisés en Europe occidentale. Et pourtant en voici un qui ne compte plus ses innombrables prises. Le Borboleta Tunao est un véritable missile à lancer. 33gr pour 12cm, sa densité est énorme.
Vous pouvez le ramener de manière régulière, ce qui va le faire nager en « S ». Vous pouvez aussi le twitcher afin de faire flasher ses flans. Il a été étudié à la base pour le thon mais s’adapte parfaitement à tous les carnassiers du globe.
Jerkbait Borboleta Perversa
The Perverse is a cult lure in Brazil. Arriving on our territory, it is certain that this hardbait will be suitable for the tracking of many predators: perch, pike, black bass, bass,… Sailing just below the surface, the Borboleta Perversa, a size of 10cm for 21g, is very versatile.
