Indeed, the soft lure is a must for all perch anglers.. Nowadays, you can't imagine fishing for perch without taking a selection of soft lures with you. The perch is certainly the most fun carnivore to fish for..
Its almost ubiquitous presence in our waterways makes it a prime target for many anglers. However, it is important to understand that the perch can be very demanding and selective in its food choices. With this in mind, our subscribers have shared with us 10 flexible perch lures that have proved their effectiveness over time and in a variety of conditions. If you're looking for the best soft pole lure to suit your current needs, you're sure to find it in this list.
Reins Fat Rockvibe: A monument to streetfishing and perch fishing
The Reins Rockvibe is a soft lure designed for black bass fishing. However, perch, like many other predators, are not at all insensitive to it. Well-known since the advent of streetfishing in France with the FTT team, this flexible perch lure is now a must-have reference for all anglers.
Its highly mobile ringed tail produces a very dynamic swimming frequency. As for its body, its very flat and oval profile gives it a very important rolling action which seems to attract perch from afar.
Very versatile, we like to use Rockvibe on a lead head or trailer on a jig. A soft lure not to be overlooked on perch.
Keitech Easy Shiner: One of the best soft lures for perch
The Keitech Easy Shiner is a soft lure that also proves formidable on perch, especially in its 4″ or 3.5″ version. L'Easy Shiner is a lure with a very flexible rubber, allowing a dynamic swimming action, even with slow animation. This flexible perch lure makes the most of the body of the Shad Impact and the tail of the Swing Impact.
In order to target perch, we advise you to go for sizes 3.5″ and 4″ which are perfect bites for this fish. The colours are superbly made with double injection and glitter of different diameters. Personally, we love the natural colours. The only slight downside we note on this soft perch lure is that the tail is very fragile.
OSP Mylar Minnow: The soft lure for drop-shot perch
The Mylar Minnow PSO is an extremely effective drop-shot finesse lure for perch in autumn or winter. This lure has also brought us a lot of fish in areas with a lot of fishing pressure.
This supple lure emits very discreet vibrations and flashes of light at the slightest touch of the rod. It also emits a slight rolling action on the way down. All these elements put together make this lure particularly effective for drop-shot perch fishing or other finesse fishing.
The Mylar Minnow is a soft lure that will stand out on perch thanks to its versatility, discretion and quality of design.
Bass Assassin Turbo Shad: As formidable as ever
A very supple, round and plump little shad with a broad tail, the Bass Assassin Turbo Shad is a lure with a very attractive fast swimming action. It comes all the way from Florida in the USA but is still very effective on perch. The lure has a unique texture and suppleness that gives it a very realistic and attractive swimming action. The unique and special colours of the Bass Assassin range will seduce even the most wary of perch.
The Turbo Shad is an old lure but is still very effective once in the water. For us, it's a great asset, and an economical one at that, for any angler targeting perch.
Fox Rage Slick Shad: A subtle soft lure for tough fishing
The Slick Shad from Fox Rage is a soft lure with a very fine profile and a small paddle unlike the other soft lures for perch presented above. This makes it quick to get into action, either on contact with the water or when lifted off the bottom. Perch often attack at this moment. That's why we think this soft lure is so effective on perch. It also works very well linearly when you're looking for a different type of vibration.
The Slick Shad is a great success from Fox Rage that we recommend you try out at the water's edge.
Delalande Shad GT: A legendary soft lure for perch fishing
The Delalande Shad GT is a legend in perch and predator fishing in general and has won over a great many anglers. This soft lure has a unique shape that gives it a very pronounced rolling action on its horizontal axis, whatever the weight or shape of the jig head.
From the very first call, the Shad GT will have shiny, icy sides. This produces a flash effect that attracts perch from afar. The tail is designed to swim at the slightest pressure, whether vertical or horizontal. Its specificity lies during phases of rapid acceleration or high speed retrieve.
We recommend the following sizes 9 cm and 11 cm to find the perch. In addition, in order toTo prevent the lure from slipping off the hook when casting or striking, apply a drop or two of quick glue to the lead and then press firmly onto the head of the lure.
Keitech Swing Impact Fat: An asset for very slow fishing
The Swing Impact Fat by Keitech is the elder brother of the Easy Shiner and has lent it its distinctive paddle. This soft lure impresses with its ability to swim at all speeds. Its tail will come into action even on extremely slow retrieves or ultra-fast reaction fishing.
In addition, the body of the Swing Impact Fat is ringed to give it a more imposing silhouette for targeting big perch. Finally, like most Keitech soft lures, it contains natural squid flavourings compiled directly into the mass. This makes it a formidable weapon on perch despite the number of casts it will be subjected to.
Fox Rage Zander Pro Shads: A soft lure for pike-perch, but not just for pike-perch
As its name suggests, the Zander Pro Shad is basically a soft lure designed for pike-perch fishing. However, as a percid, the perch is not at all insensitive. Far from it! Even if the material is very supple, it is nonetheless resistant over time. In our opinion, this is a big plus. The Zander Pro Shad also has a wide, varied and original range of colours, which is very useful when the poles are fixed to a specific colour.
In short, the Zander Pro Shad is a highly versatile lure with a proven track record that will last. That's why perch specialists are snapping it up.
Sawamura One Up Shad: A highly effective, albeit fragile, flexible perch lure
The Sawamura One Up Shad is a soft lure of impeccable quality and effective on any predator. This soft lure is very supple and has a very soft plastic, allowing the animation to apply very discrete vibrations. Its high density will allow you to cast this lure long distances and slowly descend into the water.
We particularly like to use the One Up Shad in very slow fishing, when the perch are apathetic. The only drawback is its incredible fragility, given its price.
Ecogear Grass Minnow: Another safe bet for perch
The Grass Minnow is a soft lure that has been on the market for a number of years now, with many successes to its credit. Its unusual shape gives it a unique swimming action thanks to its round, elongated body. As well as its swimming action, we particularly like this lure for the robustness of its material. It won't rip on the first attack, making it a real pleasure to use. Grass Minnow a flexible lure with a pole you can rely on!
We particularly like the S size in 4.5 cm and the M size in 6.5 cm for perch fishing.
How do you choose the best flexible perch lure for the conditions?
Here are a few rules that we often apply ourselves. We hope they will make it a little easier for you to choose the best flexible pole for the conditions you face.
- Choose soft, high-vibration lures in spring and autumn. These periods coincide with peaks in the activity of our beloved perch. They respond very well to these lures as winter approaches, for example.
- Soft lures with a medium vibration can be used all year round on perch.
- Low-vibration lures are ideal when conditions are difficult, such as during periods of extreme cold or when perch are under heavy stress.
As far as colour is concerned, we prefer natural colours for clear water. Conversely, the dirtier the water, the more we opt for colours such as fluorescent or Fire Tiger.
