Pike fishing on the Mälaren in Sweden

With a total surface area of over 115,000 hectares, Lake Mälaren is Sweden's third largest lake. It is divided into numerous islands and bays bordered by reed beds, shallows, breaks and other structures. Mälaren is a Sweden's top pike fishing destination. The Mälaren is the kingdom of pike fishing, with many specimens over a metre in length caught every year.  It also catches some very large asps, pike-perch and perch.

Our fishing sector covers more than 10,000 hectares and is located in the geographical centre of the lake with many large bays bordered by reed beds, shallows, breaks and other interesting structures to explore.

It is an hour's drive from Stockholm's Arlanda and Skavsta airports respectively.

Since 2008, we have been organising pike, perch and pike-perch fishing trips in the best fishing spots in Sweden, in Västervik on the Baltic, on the great Lake Mälaren or on the shores of private lakes that are very rich in carnivorous fish. But you can also fish in the great wilderness of Upper Swedish Lapland.

PIKE FISHING ON LAKE MÄLAREN

All types of lure fishing techniques are possible during this pike fishing holiday in Sweden at Mälaren.

During your stay, the priority will be to target large fish, as this is the kingdom of pike fishing, with many fish over a metre in length caught each year. There are also some very large asps (over 5 kilos), plenty of pike-perch and perch.
When it comes to pike stalking, lure anglers can choose between the following depending on the season jerkbaits, swimbaits, soft lures to be brought back into linear form, shad on tp, spinnerbaits Spring is a good time to use small to medium-sized lures, while autumn, and especially October, often gives good results when fishing with big baits.

THE BOATS

We have secure 5m boats equipped with 25/30hp engines, floating anchor, colour sounder/GPS handset with integrated lake map.
We also have a 5m70 Alumacraft Competitor 185 fully equipped as a bass boat.

THE SEASON

To maximise your chances of catching trophy fish, we have selected the spring and autumn weeks that have historically produced the best fishing results over the last 10 years.

- Private pontoon.
- Fibre boats 4m60 to 5 m long, engine 20 to 30 hp (boat licence required for more than 25 hp). (1 boat for 2 to 3 anglers maximum).
- Safety equipment, oars, life jackets, anchor, floating anchor for drifts.
- Dual-frequency colour depth sounder/GPS with integrated lake map.
- 20 litres of fuel per boat (canisters are available for refuelling during the trip).
