Carnivore fishing on the Carcans/Hourtin lake

As a fishing guide in Hourtin, my aim during our visit will be to be attentive to your every need when lure fishing for carnivorous fish such as pike, perch and catfish on this legendary Grironde lake.

The lake of Carcans/Hourtin The 5670-hectare site is located on the Atlantic coast of the Gironde department. It is one of the France's largest natural freshwater lakeset in an exceptional forest environment between dunes and marshes, carnivorous fishingin particular the pikeis king. These lakes are home to an abundant and varied fish population.

The pike is very present on Lac d'Hourtin, with a large number of large specimens over 80 cm. Lake Hourtin is also very rich in poles which move in shoals near the sea grass beds; it is not unusual to catch poles over 40 cm in Carcans/Hourtin. With top-of-the-range equipment, you will be supervised by a qualified fishing guide attentive to your every need.

With a background in agriculture and aquaculture, and a diploma as a fishing instructor-guide, Julien works in the Bay of Arcachon as well as in Guadeloupe. He has worked with the most powerful fish, such as tarpon and aïmaras... His passion and desire to pass on his knowledge are sure to give you a great time sharing and enjoying fishing.

The detailed programme

Whether you're looking for an introduction, a refresher course or pure guidance, my aim as a fishing guide in Hourtin will be to adapt to your level to give you the best possible instruction and to share with you all my technical and fishing knowledge so that your day on Lake Hourtin runs as smoothly as possible.

After a safety debriefing, each angler will be equipped with a top-of-the-range set (rod, reel and lure).

With the advice of your guide, you'll be in charge of your own fishing on Lac d'Hourtin. I'll be there to help you choose the different fishing techniques and lures to use (soft, hard, metal...), the rigs and strategies or animations to adopt depending on the conditions at the time. The fish caught will be released in the best conditions and with the greatest respect.

A camera and an HD on-board camera are used to capture your fishing trip if it is a good one. You will then receive (on request) an email containing your memories of the fishing trip.
